At The Exploration Company, we aren’t just dreaming about space; we’re manufacturing the hardware to get there. We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician to join our shop in Bordeaux. If you love prototyping, working with your hands, and solving the unique puzzles that come with aerospace engineering, we want you on our launch team.
What you’ll actually be doing
You won’t be stuck doing the same thing every day. As part of a fast-moving startup, you’ll be the bridge between a design on a screen and a physical part in the workshop:
- Subsystem Prototyping: You’ll be the master of the workshop—cutting, drilling, machining, and assembling the parts that make up our spacecraft.
- Test Bench Support: You’ll help our engineers set up and assemble test benches, making sure every fixture is perfect before we “push the button.”
- Advanced Production: Ready to level up? We’ll train you on CNC machines, Wire-EDM (WEDM), and other high-tech processes to produce actual flight hardware.
- Collaboration: You’ll work side-by-side with designers and test teams. When a part needs a “small tweak” to work, you’re the person who makes it happen.
Is this you?
- The Experience: You’ve spent 3 to 5 years in a workshop or prototyping environment (aerospace or automotive is great, but precision is what matters).
- The Hands: You are a pro with assembly and fitting. If you can TIG weld (aluminum or stainless), that’s a massive bonus.
- The Mindset: You can read a technical drawing like a book. You’re rigorous about quality—because in space, there’s no room for “good enough.”
- The Language: You don’t need to be Shakespeare, but professional English is a big plus in our international office.
