Shenzhen University Scholarships for 2025 Spring Intake

Shenzhen University (SZU) is now accepting applications for its Doctoral Programs for the February 2025 intake. International students interested in pursuing a PhD in China can apply for various scholarships and grants, offering an excellent opportunity to advance their academic and professional careers.

Scholarships and Financial Support

Shenzhen University offers various scholarships to support international students:

  1. Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship: RMB 30,000 per year.
  2. Shenzhen Universiade Scholarship: RMB 40,000 per year.
  3. Liyuan International Scholarship:
    • First Class: Tuition waiver plus RMB 72,000/year living allowance (RMB 6,000/month).
    • Second Class: Tuition waiver plus RMB 60,000/year living allowance (RMB 5,000/month).
    • Third Class: Tuition waiver plus RMB 48,000/year living allowance (RMB 4,000/month).

Additionally, doctoral supervisors will provide an annual allowance of at least RMB 12,000 for international doctoral candidates for scientific research and academic exchanges.

Programs Offered

Shenzhen University offers a wide range of doctoral programs for international students. Interested applicants can find detailed information on available majors through the university’s official admission brochure for the 2025 spring intake.

Study Mode and Duration: The doctoral programs are full-time, with a standard duration of 3 to 4 years, depending on the specific major. The maximum study period allowed is 5 years.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for these programs, applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports and in good physical and mental health.
  • Hold a master’s degree or above. Those yet to graduate must provide a pre-graduation certificate and obtain their master’s degree before admission.
  • Be under the age of 40.
  • Meet language proficiency requirements: HSK Level 5 for programs taught in Chinese or proof of English proficiency for programs taught in English. Native speakers of Chinese or English may be exempted upon approval by the university.

  • Language proficiency certificate.
  • Passport and passport photo.
  • Physical examination report for foreigners.
  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (translated and notarized).
  • Completed Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship form (if applying for the scholarship).
