If you’re an excellent student from outside the EU/EEA and considering pursuing a master’s degree, the University of Twente offers a fantastic opportunity through the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS). This scholarship is designed for top-performing students applying for a graduate program (MSc) at the University of Twente. Here’s everything you need to know about the UTS for the class of 2025.
Scholarship Value
The UTS offers financial support ranging from €3,000 to €22,000 for one academic year. Approximately 50 scholarships are available. If you’re enrolling in a two-year program, you could receive an additional amount equivalent to your first-year award for your second year, provided you meet specific progress requirements.
Two-Year Study Programs
If you’re enrolled in a two-year program, you may qualify for the scholarship in both years. However, to maintain eligibility for the second year, you must achieve:
- An average grade of 7 (out of 10) by the end of the third quartile of your first year.
- At least 50% of European Credits by the end of the third quartile of your first year.
Additional Scholarship Opportunity: Kipaji Scholarship
If you are awarded the UTS and are interested in an additional scholarship, you may be eligible for the Kipaji Scholarship. This scholarship is only available to UTS recipients who apply for programs starting in September 2025. Ensure you indicate your interest in this scholarship during your UTS application. Eligible Master’s Programs
The UTS is available for a wide range of master’s programs at the University of Twente. However, it does not cover:
- Programs at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC).
- Pre-Master’s programs.
- Programs for EU/EEA students or current UT students.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for the UTS, you must meet the following criteria:
- Provisional Admission: You must have received a (provisional) admission letter for a qualifying UT Master’s program starting in the 2025/2026 academic year (September intake). Admission results may take up to 8 weeks after applying.
- Student Number: You must have a student number issued by the University of Twente.
- Non-UT Graduate: You should not have graduated from any UT (under)graduate program.
- Visa Compliance: If applicable, you must meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa to the Netherlands.
- Language Proficiency: You must meet the English language test requirements: Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) in the speaking skills subscore.
- No Dutch Study Loan: You must not be eligible for a Dutch study loan.
- Top 5-10% of Class: UTS is awarded to outstanding students, generally those in the top 5-10% of their class.
